Honey Creek Resort is Iowa's New Outdoor Getaway

At 11,000 acres, Lake Rathbun is one of Iowa’s largest lakes and recreational areas.  In the coming months the Appanoose County area will welcome the opening of the largest construction project in the history of the Department of Natural Resources, Honey Creek Resort State Park.
Complementing the 105 room hotel, indoor water park and lodge area will be a full-service convention center complete with meeting spaces, restaurant and a lounge.  All of this is before you venture outdoors to enjoy the 18 hole golf course, 9.7 miles of nature trails, and of course the picturesque views of Lake Rathbun.  Other recreational opportunities include a swimming beach, boat ramp, boat docking facilities, RV park and campground sites.
Chariton Valley REC provides power to the project and has been a major contributor and supporter of the all-electric Honey Creek Resort State Park development.   The cooperative’s “commitment to community” helped secure the Honey Creek project.  The resort will open mid-August.    Click on www.honeycreekresort.com for an electronic tour and more information
