World's Largest Turkey Hatchery Opens in Osceola Within seven months of breaking ground on the world’s largest turkey hatchery the Valley of the Moon Commercial Poults project became operational in Osceola. The 87,000 sq.ft. tilt up concrete facility will employ over 50 people and begin shipping out turkey poults to grower facilities in January.
David Kenyon, Vice President of Sales for Aviagen (the parent company), was very pleased with the Osceola location and how well the project came together from locating the site, the construction process and now being operational.
Rand Fisher, President IADG said, “Clarke Electric Cooperative and the Osceola community were ready to act with the right site and development tools to locate the “world’s largest turkey hatchery” in Osceola and further strengthen Iowa’s leading role in the poultry industry.”
Clarke County REC was instrumental in assisting the location of the Valley of the Moon project and provides power to the facility.
